Supporters coming together in tragedy or to fight a common goal like the ESL or for better facilities/prices is nothing new.
Cosying up to Munich singing nobheads without consulting the fans they claim to represent will never be acceptable.
When we formed the 58 we always said we would be transparent and true to ourselves and our values and call out anything that doesn’t sit with us. That is the case with the recent MUST collaboration with Spirit of Shankly.
To do this on their own volition reeks of self importance and grandeur it also very clearly sticks two fingers up to the very fans they claim to represent.
To operate in a vacuum is not the behaviour we would expect from a trust representing us. To discuss this first with a rival organisation (Spirit of Shankly of all groups) and not our own fanbase and then to release a statement to the media without any warning is more than disappointing.
We have literally received thousands of angry emails and DM’s about this. We said way back in March there are things that we agree with MUST on and also plenty that we don’t.
They are what they are and we very much are what we are and this could have been different if handled properly.
We want to make this crystal clear. We do not agree with this action and how its been communicated.
